Every household’s journey is unique. Hover over the interactive map below to see what you can expect after registration.
PLAN: You’ll meet with a HomeBuying Specialist to assess your situation, help you develop a home buying plan, and determine how much you can safely afford. We’ll pull your SoftTouch credit report, and also match you with any special programs you may qualify for.
LEARN: Based on your situation, we’ll recommend financial and/or home buyer education courses that provide you with all of the information you need to make smart homebuying choices.
FINANCE: Meet with our Loan Officer to find the best, most affordable loan for you and to get pre-approved.
BUY: Shop for a home that meets your needs - and your pocketbook. We have a list of trusted Realtors and Home Inspectors to guide you in negotiating the best deal. Your HomeBuying Specialist is available to review your documents with you before you sign on the dotted line!
PROTECT: Come and take a class on home maintenance and repairs, tax issues for homeowners, and building a strong financial future as a homeowner.
A payment of $99/household is required to complete your registration. This materials fee includes your first credit report (for you and your co-buyer) as well as all counseling, group education, and financial services during your homebuying journey and beyond. Additional fees may be incurred for other services such as self-paced education courses (paid to a 3rd party vendor). Please review our complete fee schedule.
Note: You must use the same email for each part of the registration process: the online form, making the payment, and setting up your first appointment in order for your registration to process correctly. We do not send unwanted email and will never share your email with others so please use an email that you check regularly. This is also the email that your counselor will use to communicate with you.
You will be asked to submit signed authorization and disclosure forms as well as other documentation after you set up your first appointment. You can submit these documents when setting up your appointment, on the customer portal, or by email to adminpdx@portlandhousingcenter.org. These documents must be submitted prior to your first appointment.
