What We Do

Everyone deserves access to homeownership. The Portland Housing Center makes it possible through quality education, counseling, and financial services.

Our Orientation is free, and we charge each household a one-time fee of $65 for access to our services. We’ve helped more than 6,000 families become successful, financially secure homeowners because we prepare them for for all the challenges first-time homebuyers face and provide them assistance through the entire home-buying process.

We offer first mortgages with low down payments, down payment and closing cost assistance, and access to savings matching programs. Our classes are available in Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Chinese, and English.

The Portland Housing Center also provides a variety of in-house services and resources, and helps our customers assemble a team of seasoned, engaged professional partners, including home inspectors and Realtors™.

Our staff  adheres to the highest practices and standards in all of our work. We have never offered our customers high-cost, predatory loans—and never will.
